On December 4, 1936 Ida Mae Smith Weathers and Sanders Weathers gave birth to a son by the name of Walter Lee Weathers, Sr. in Schlater, MS.
Walter attended public school at Sam Balkin school in Minter City, MS.
Walter confessed his hope in Christ at an early age and united with the Mt. Olive M.B. Church under the leadership of the late Rev. Shelton and remained faithful under the leadership of Rev. J.H. Brown where he served as a Deacon, Church Secretary, Choir Member, and in any other capacity in the church.
Walter was employed by Balwin Piano Company for many years until he later retired.
Walter was a long time Funeral Home Director for McDonald and Jones funeral home and later he served as Funeral Director for Byas Mortuary and Insurance agency.
Walter served as Worshipful Master for Marsh Prairie Lodge #198 (Mason), Grand Patron of Queen Esther Grand Chapter #39 Order of Eastern Star, Patron for Chapter #12 Order of Eastern Star, Secretary for A.F. and A.M. Grand Lodge
Walter enjoyed singing just to name a few of his songs, “I can’t pay the Lord, I just like to tell Him thank you Sir”; “I shall not be moved”; “Oh, Today”; “Precious Lord take my hand”; “I owe Him”; and many more.
Walter met Alice Carter around 1959 and they were joined in Holy Matrim. There were seven children born to this union.
Walter was preceded in death by his mother, Ida Mae Smith Weathers; his father Sanders Weathers; his Wife Alice Weathers; his daughters Baby Girl Weathers and Amanda Weathers, and 14 siblings.
On Saturday June 7, 2025 Walter was called home to live with the Lord.
Walter leaves to cherish his memory, his children Donald Carter (Tracie) of Forrest, MS, Walter Lee Weathers, Jr. (Carol) of North Carolina, Lori Weathers of Florence, MS, Brenda Weathers and Dena Weathers-Nalls (Charles) both of Greenwood, MS, (12) twelve grandchildren; (19) nineteen Great Grandchildren; (2) brother-n-laws; and (4) sister-n-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, relatives and friends.
